‘Diff’rent Strokes’ was a sitcom in which Dana Plato, an American actress, played a key role. When she was a young child, she made some commercial appearances to start her acting career. She then began accepting modest roles in TV series. She didn’t, however, really make an impression on television until she played Kimberly Drummond in the popular sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes.” Plato struggled as an actor after leaving the series, looking for suitable jobs. Dana Plato started attending auditions with her mother when she was a little child, and she eventually appeared in over 100 television advertisements for brands including Dole, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Atlantic Richfield. She made an appearance in a 1975 episode of “The Six Million Dollar Man.” Her parts in the films “Return to Boggy Creek,” “Exorcist II: The Heretic,” and “California Suite” came after this. The actress was then given a role in NBC’s “Diff’rent Strokes” in 1978. In the sitcom, Phillip Drummond, a wealthy white widower, and his daughter adopt two black sons. Plato portrayed Kimberly, Drummond’s daughter, in this TV show.
She appeared as a guest star in the sitcoms “Hello, Larry” and “CHiPs” in 1979. Death, legal problems, and drug abuse
The actress was detained in 1991 after being caught robbing a video store in Las Vegas. She was detained once more the following year for fabricating a diazepam prescription. Due to her probationary terms being broken, Plato was sentenced to 30 days in jail. She then immediately checked into a drug rehab facility.
She overdosed on the painkiller Lortab and the muscle relaxant Soma and away on May 8, 1999. Her passing was classified as a suicide.
