From 1998 to 2000, the American actress appeared as Lucy Knight in the medical drama ‘ER,’ which won her a Golden Globe for Best Actress. She also had voice roles in the popular kids’ animated series ‘The Powerpuff Girls.’ In 2003, she played a supporting role in the comedy flick ‘Malibu’s Most Wanted.’ That year, Martin also starred in the Hallmark Channel movie ‘Mystery Woman,’ a story of the owner of a mystery bookshop who tries to solve actual crimes. From 2005 to 2007, she reprised her role in ten more ‘Mystery Woman films and also directed two of them.
She made guest appearances in the television programs Ghost Whisperer’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy in 2009. In 2012, she was featured as Army Captain Nicole Galassini in the series Army Wives,’ which premiered on Lifetime Network television. Four years later, Martin joined a new Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel show titled ‘Hailey Dean Mystery,’ playing the protagonist, a prosecutor turned therapist, who solves crime mysteries. In 2017, she appeared as police officer Kimberly Leahy in the TBS comedy series ‘The Guest Book’.
