Career
Zulekha lacked the aptitude for either of her parents’ professions, despite the fact that they were both extremely successful in their own careers. Zulekha struggled with her weight for a long time and was unable to pursue a modeling career like her mother. Even though her father, a professional basketball player, tried to teach her basketball and tennis, Zulekha came to the conclusion that she lacked natural athletic ability.
Zulekha was keen on pursuing a career in business, though. Working for her mother’s business, Iman Cosmetics, gave her her big break. In 2002, she began working as the executive assistant office manager in New York, where she began to learn the ropes of the company. In 2005, she received a promotion to the position of Account Manager, where she managed all of the company’s significant accounts. In 2007, she received another promotion, this time to the senior position of Planning and Procurement Manager. In that capacity, she expanded her exposure to the company’s numerous departments and cultivated partnerships with significant businesses including Wal-Mart, Target, CVS, HSN, and Walgreens.
In 2014, Zulekha left her mother’s business after more than 12 years of service and began working as a project manager and brand analyst for Jay Manuel Beauty. Zulekha continually grew her skill set during her profession and picked up new ones. After working at Jay Manuel Beauty for two years, Zulekha transferred to Portu Sunberg in 2016 as an inventory analyst. There, she played a significant role in the creation of numerous client programs. But she quit the business eight months later to take a job elsewhere. Over the course of her 15-year career, Zulekha also honed her writing and editing abilities for publications and the advertising divisions of her many employers. According to Zulekha’s LinkedIn profile, she currently works for McShares, Inc.

Family & Personal Life
On July 5, 1978, Zulekha Haywood was born in the USA. Her father was a former NBA player who played for the Seattle Supersonics and the New York Knicks. Her mother is a supermodel and Somali-American Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid. Before divorcing in 1987, her parents were wed for ten years.
Zulekha has three sisters from her father, Nikiah, Isis, and Shaakira Haywood; a half-sister, Alexandria Zahra-Jones; and a half-brother, Duncan Jones, from her mother. There are a total of five children from Zulekha’s parents’ previous relationships.
Zulekha struggled with her weight from an early age and dealt with the issue for the rest of her life. Zulekha’s mother placed her on the “Basta” diet when she was a youngster because she was overweight. Her mother would mutter “Basta” (which means “enough” in Italian) each time she overate. A young Zulekha briefly made progress in her weight-loss goals, but the late-night munching habit she inherited from her father sabotaged her attempts.
Zulekha felt insufficient since she didn’t feel physically fit like her Olympic gold medalist father or as physically attractive as her supermodel mother, which made problems worse. She had tried practically every diet since she was eight years old, and at one time, she had reached a weight of about 320 pounds. Zulekha decided to have gastric band surgery on her 28th birthday as a result of her poor health. She was able to finish her studies, gain confidence, and start her successful job all thanks to the operation.
After attending Mercy High School, Zulekha attended Michigan State University and earned a bachelor’s degree there.
Zulekha has always sought to avoid the spotlight and has had a very secluded life. She avoids the cameras and social media, therefore there isn’t a lot of information available about her romantic relationships. According to reports, Zulekha married her longtime partner Jason Young in 2016, and the couple had a daughter in 2017. Both of the information was verified in an Instagram post by her father.
Traveling and participating in physical activities like tennis, volleyball, and golf are some of Zulekha’s interests and passions.
